Phuket has developed a significant international school sector over the past two decades, driven by the island's large and growing community of expatriate residents — including professionals in the tourism, property, and hospitality industries, as well as a substantial number of remote-working families attracted by Phuket's beaches, lifestyle, and relatively low cost of living. Phuket's international schools are concentrated in the Kathu, Laguna, and Cherng Talay areas of the island's west coast, within easy reach of the major expat residential developments. Schools offer British IGCSE and A-Level and IB curricula, with smaller class sizes and a stronger community atmosphere than the large Bangkok campuses.
