Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur is Malaysia's international school capital and one of Southeast Asia's most competitive expat school markets. The city's schools are concentrated in a handful of expat-heavy neighbourhoods: Mont Kiara and Sri Hartamas in the northwest, Ampang and the embassy district in the east, and the southern suburbs of Damansara and Bangsar. Each area has a distinct character — Mont Kiara is the most densely expat-populated and has the highest concentration of international schools, while Ampang has long been the address of choice for diplomatic families. Kuala Lumpur's international schools offer a wide range of curricula, with British IGCSE and A-Level programmes dominant, alongside a growing number of IB World Schools and American AP programmes. Fees are significantly lower than Singapore — typically in the range of MYR 20,000 to MYR 80,000 (approximately USD 4,500–18,000) per year — making KL a highly attractive option for budget-conscious expat families who don't need to be in Singapore specifically.
