Nakornpayap International School (NIS)

Nakornpayap International School (NIS) opened in 1993 and describes itself as the oldest secular international school in Chiang Mai. It is a co-educational school on a leafy campus in San Phi Sua, in the north of the city, taking children from Early Childhood through Elementary, Middle and High School to Grade 12.

Teaching is in English and follows a US standards-based, Common Core curriculum. High-school students can take College Board Advanced Placement (AP) courses and exams, which suits families planning for universities in the United States and elsewhere. The school places weight on inquiry-based learning and a diverse, multicultural student body under its "Education Through Diversity" approach.

NIS is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and Thailand's ONESQA, and is a member of the East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS). Contact the admissions office for current fees and availability.
