Grace International School (GIS) opened in Chiang Mai in 1999 with 176 students, founded by Gene and Sherrie Foltz. It was set up mainly for the children of Christian workers serving in Thailand and the region, and today has more than 500 students from families linked to over 85 organisations working in more than 40 countries. Since the 2019/20 school year it has been on a purpose-built 37-acre campus in Hang Dong, south of the city.
GIS teaches an American curriculum from a Christian worldview, organised into Elementary (K–5), Middle School (6–8) and High School (9–12). High school students can choose from a wide range of Advanced Placement courses and the AP Capstone Diploma (AP Seminar and AP Research), with learning support and EAL available. The school is accredited by ACSI and WASC and is certified by ONESQA, Thailand's national quality agency.
The campus has separate elementary, middle and high school buildings, a cafeteria, a fitness centre, covered and outdoor courts and football pitches, with a fieldhouse, auditorium and performing arts centre planned. Published 2026/27 tuition is THB 309,000 a year for K–5 rising to THB 379,000 for Grade 12, with financial assistance, discounts for Christian-worker families and sibling discounts.
