Tenby International School Penang opened in 2005, when the Tenby Schools group (founded in 1960) came to Penang, and moved to its current 10-acre campus in Tanjung Bungah in 2011. It shares the site with Sekolah Sri Tenby, the group's Malaysian national-curriculum school, and the two schools have more than 800 students from over 30 countries between them. Tenby joined International Schools Partnership (ISP) in 2018 and became a STEAM specialist school in 2023.
The international stream runs from Early Years (ages 3–5), using the International Early Years Curriculum, through Primary (the National Curriculum for England with the International Primary Curriculum) to Secondary, where students follow the English curriculum to Cambridge IGCSE in Year 11 at age 16. There is no sixth form. Teaching is in English, with English-language support, daily Mandarin and Malay. The school presents itself as CIS accredited and a Cambridge school, and offers the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award, Model United Nations and more than 75 co-curricular activities.
The three-storey STEAM Engine building (2024) holds robotics, coding, XR and design-technology labs, a makerspace, a black-box theatre and a recording studio. The campus also has science labs, art studios, a library, a swimming pool, a football field, a basketball court and a multipurpose hall. Published 2026/27 tuition runs from about RM16,200 a year in Nursery to about RM59,000 in Year 10, with higher Year 11 fees and one-off application and registration charges.
