Straits International School Penang is in Bayan Lepas, in the south-east of Penang Island, a few minutes from Penang International Airport, the Free Industrial Zone and Queensbay Mall. That makes it a practical choice for families working in the island's manufacturing and technology belt, and for those living in Bayan Lepas, Queensbay and across the bridge in Batu Kawan. The school joined the International Schools Partnership (ISP) group in October 2021.
Teaching follows the National Curriculum for England, with English, Mathematics and Science enriched by the Cambridge curriculum. Kindergarten (ages 3 to 5) follows the Early Years Foundation Stage, primary runs from Year 1 to Year 6 with Cambridge Checkpoint in Year 6, and secondary runs to Year 11, with Cambridge Checkpoint in Year 9 and Cambridge or Oxford AQA IGCSEs in Years 10 and 11. The school does not currently offer A Levels, so students move elsewhere for sixth form. Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin are taught alongside English, and English as an Additional Language support is available.
The modern multi-storey campus has specialist music, science and sports spaces, and the school says it runs more than 130 co-curricular activities and an after-school club until 5pm, with a community of more than 17 nationalities. Published 2026/27 fees start at RM 6,100 a term in Nursery and rise to RM 13,733 a term in Year 6, over three terms a year, plus registration and enrolment fees; secondary fees are available from admissions.
