The British International School of Kuala Lumpur (BSKL) opened in 2009 in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, on the western edge of Kuala Lumpur, and added a new secondary campus on the same site in 2016. It is part of Nord Anglia Education, whose students take part in the group's collaborations with The Juilliard School, MIT and UNICEF.
BSKL follows the English National Curriculum throughout: the Early Years Foundation Stage from age 2, primary and Key Stage 3, then IGCSEs and A Levels in the Sixth Form. The school was rated "excellent" in all areas by the UK's Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI), is a member of COBIS and FOBISIA, is a Cambridge International and Pearson Edexcel centre and is licensed by Malaysia's Ministry of Education. Nord Anglia reports that BSKL's A Level results were the best of any of its schools in Asia for three consecutive years. Teaching is in English, with EAL support, and Mandarin, Spanish and French are taught.
More than 1,200 students from 63 countries attend, with an average class size of 22. Facilities include a 600-seat auditorium, 20 music rooms, two drama and dance studios, a STEAM zone with a 3D-printing room, three libraries and a Sixth Form centre, plus an outdoor competition pool, a covered full-size Astroturf pitch, three indoor gyms, rooftop five-a-side pitches and a climbing wall. Over 100 after-school clubs run each week. Contact the admissions team for current fees.
