Surabaya European School (SES) was founded in 1997 as the first Montessori school in Surabaya and has grown into an all-through international school on its own campus within the Pakuwon Golf & Family Club area of Pakuwon Indah, West Surabaya. The school adopted the British National Curriculum in 2001, became a fully accredited Cambridge school in 2011 and has run Cambridge examinations on site ever since.
Children aged 3 to 6 start in the Montessori Years. Primary pupils (Years 2 to 6) follow the Cambridge curriculum alongside the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), and Secondary students (Years 7 to 13) follow Cambridge International Education through to IGCSE and A Level. Teaching is in English, with Bahasa Indonesia, Mandarin and French also taught.
SES is deliberately small, quoting a teacher-to-student ratio of about 1:8, and co-curricular options include the Duke of Edinburgh Award, the World Scholar's Cup, music, art and drama. It is a good fit for families in West Surabaya looking for a personal, British-style education. Contact the school for current fees and to book a tour.
