Madu Waldorf School

Unclaimed
A Waldorf Steiner school in Sayan, near Ubud, open since 2016, with bamboo and wooden classrooms beside the rice fields and classes from kindergarten to Grade 7.
Madu Waldorf School

Madu Waldorf School, also known as Waldorf Bali, was founded in 2016 on the outskirts of Ubud. It sits in the hills of Sayan, with purpose-built bamboo and wooden classrooms next to the rice fields, and blends Waldorf Steiner education with Balinese culture and local wisdom.

The school runs a one-day-a-week playgroup, a kindergarten for ages four to six, and grade classes from Grade 1 to Grade 7, which attend five days a week. Grades 8 and 9 are planned. Following the Waldorf approach, there are no screens or computers in school, and gardening, farming, botany, local geography, geology and astronomy are core parts of the grade years. Teaching is mainly in English, and Indonesian is taught formally and used every day. The school is a member of the Association of Waldorf Schools Indonesia and is listed with Steiner Education Australia.

Admission requires at least a year's residency in Bali, a short trial period and regular parent involvement, and the waiting list gives priority to Balinese and Indonesian families. Contact the school for current fees.
