Green School Bali

Green School Bali is one of the world's most distinctive international schools — a K-12 institution built almost entirely from bamboo in the jungle of Sibang Kaja, near Ubud. Founded in 2008 by John and Cynthia Hardy, Green School has become globally recognised for its radical approach to education, placing sustainability, entrepreneurship, and connection to nature at the heart of every subject.

The school offers the Green School Diploma alongside components of the IB Middle Years Programme, and is accredited by WASC. Students learn in open-air bamboo pavilions alongside the Ayung River, engage in community service projects, and graduate with a deep environmental literacy alongside a strong academic foundation.

Green School attracts a highly international student body of children from remote-working families, digital nomads, and expats who have relocated to Bali specifically for the school. It is not for every family — but for those who value creativity, sustainability, and an unconventional approach to learning, there is nowhere quite like it in the world.
