The Canadian International School of Thailand (CIST) opened in September 2017 on a 9.2-acre campus beside the Chao Phraya River in Bang Phlat, on the Thonburi side of Bangkok. It is run by the Thewphaingarm group, a Thai education family whose first school opened in 1976. It is a small school of about 350 students from PreK2 to Grade 12, with a mix of Thai and international families.
CIST follows the Ontario curriculum, set by the Ontario Ministry of Education, and delivers it through the IB Primary Years Programme in the early years and primary school and the IB Middle Years Programme from Grade 6 to Grade 10. In Grades 11 and 12, students work towards the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). The upper school is inspected each year by the Ontario Ministry of Education. Language options include French, Mandarin and Thai, and there is a Mandarin-English immersion stream in the early grades, an intensive EAL programme and learning support assistants.
The campus has specialist classrooms and labs, an indoor sports hall, playgrounds and gardens, and a cafeteria serving Thai and Western food. Weekly or full boarding is available for Grades 1 to 12: girls board on campus and boys in a riverside residence nearby. Tuition for 2026/27 is THB 231,000 to 283,500 a year in Grades 1 to 6, THB 336,000 in Grades 7 to 9 and THB 383,250 in Grades 10 to 12. Meals are about THB 33,000 a year, and an OSSD fee applies in the final years. New students pay a THB 150,000 registration fee. Boarding costs THB 78,000 to 110,000 a year on top of tuition.
