BASIS International School Bangkok opened in August 2019 as part of the BASIS Curriculum Schools network, which started in Arizona in 1998 and now runs schools in the United States, China and elsewhere. The school is on Rama II Soi 54 in Samae Dam, Bang Khun Thian, in south-west Bangkok, next to the Central Rama 2 shopping centre and about 30 minutes from the business district. It takes children from Nursery (age 2 to 3) through Grade 12.
The BASIS curriculum is an accelerated American liberal-arts and sciences programme. Subjects such as physics, chemistry and biology are taught separately from middle school, and students start Advanced Placement (AP) courses early, with many sitting ten or more AP exams by graduation. Specialist subject teachers take over from the upper primary years. An optional Chinese-language programme is available. The school is accredited by Cognia, as are all BASIS Curriculum Schools. Enrolment is a little over 400 and still growing, with a mix of Thai and international families.
The campus covers about 22 rai (8.7 acres) beside a 35-rai public park. It has separate kindergarten, academic, arts, and science and technology buildings, 14 science labs, a design kitchen with 3D printing, woodworking and robotics rooms, a black-box theatre, a 25m competition pool and a kindergarten pool, a 1,600 sq m air-conditioned sports hall, a gymnastics room and more than 12 rai of playing fields. Fees are at the upper end for Bangkok. For 2026–2027, annual tuition is THB 565,000 for Nursery, THB 810,000 for Grades 1 to 3, THB 936,000 for Grades 6 to 8 and THB 1,038,000 for Grades 9 to 12. Books, AP exam fees, transport and activities cost extra.
