NIVA American International School was founded in 1991 by Dr. Nathan Anthony, at a time when Thailand had only seven international schools. It is on Soi Phokaew 3 off Ladprao 101 Road in Khlong Chan, Bang Kapi, in East Bangkok, and suits families living around Lat Phrao, Bang Kapi, Ramkhamhaeng and Seri Thai.
Teaching follows an American curriculum based on the California Common Core standards, from Nursery and Kindergarten (ages 2 to 5) through Elementary (6 to 10), Middle School (11 to 13) and High School (14 to 17), with Advanced Placement courses in high school. An English Language Learner programme supports students who are new to English. The school has more than 400 students, with classes of 15 to 26 and student-to-teacher ratios of between 13:1 and 20:1.
NIVA is licensed by the Thai Ministry of Education and the Office of the Private Education Commission, is fully accredited by WASC, holds full ONESQA accreditation and is a member of the International Schools Association of Thailand (ISAT). The fee schedule is published on the school's website; contact admissions for current tuition.
