British School Jakarta (BSJ)

British School Jakarta (BSJ) was established in 1973 as the British International School and moved to its present 45-acre campus at Bintaro Jaya Sektor 9, South Tangerang, on Jakarta's south-western edge, in 1994. Today it has more than 1,390 students from over 50 nationalities, from age 2 to Year 13.

Young children follow the UK Early Years Foundation Stage in Kindergarten, and Primary uses a bespoke curriculum built on the English National Curriculum together with the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). From Year 7 the school moves to the International Baccalaureate: the IB Middle Years Programme in Years 7 to 11 and the IB Diploma in Years 12 and 13. The school reports an average IB Diploma score of 34.

In July 2023 BSJ was reaccredited for five years by a joint visiting team from the Council of International Schools (CIS), the IB and WASC, and it is a member of COBIS and FOBISIA. Facilities include an Olympic-size 50-metre swimming pool, a 700-seat auditorium and extensive sports fields, and the school offers more than 300 co-curricular activities.
