Bandung Independent School (BIS) is a non-profit international school founded in 1972 by parent volunteers, and it has served Bandung's expatriate and local families for more than five decades. The school describes itself as the only IB Continuum school in Bandung, offering all three International Baccalaureate programmes: the Primary Years Programme (including early childhood), the Middle Years Programme and the IB Diploma.
BIS is CIS and NEASC accredited, is an authorised IB World School and is accredited nationally as an SPK school. It is deliberately small, with a little over 200 students from more than 20 nationalities, which means small classes and teachers who know every child well. A nursery programme takes the youngest children, and the school runs community service and a range of extracurricular activities alongside the academic programme.
The campus is on Jalan Prof. Drg. Surya Sumantri in north-west Bandung, a short drive from the Pasteur toll gate, which keeps the school convenient for families travelling to and from Jakarta. Contact the school directly for current fees.
