Bandung Alliance Intercultural School (BAIS)

Bandung Alliance Intercultural School (BAIS) is one of Indonesia's most distinctive and well-regarded international schools, founded in 1964 by the Christian and Missionary Alliance to serve the expatriate and missionary community in West Java. Located in the Cidadap Girang area of Bandung, BAIS offers an American-based Christian education from Kindergarten through Grade 12, and has built a strong reputation for academic quality, personalised learning, and a warm community culture.

BAIS serves a diverse student body including the children of NGO workers, missionaries, business expats, and a growing number of internationally minded Indonesian families who value the school's English-medium curriculum and values-based approach. Class sizes are intentionally small, allowing teachers to provide highly individualised attention and support. BAIS is WASC-accredited and has consistently maintained strong academic standards since its founding.

Bandung's cooler highland climate, lower cost of living compared to Jakarta, and strong arts and creative scene make it a popular choice for expat families who have flexibility in where they are based in Indonesia. BAIS is the school community at the centre of Bandung's English-speaking expat world, and its graduates have progressed to universities in the USA, Canada, Australia, and the UK.
